Between November 21 and 24, the II Forum of Young Leaders “Russia and the Central Asian Region” was held in Omsk. A student of the Institute of International Education of the Vlogý MIREA Ashurali Murodovich Ashurov from the Republic of Tajikistan was one of its participants.
The Forum was organized by the Federal Agency for Youth Affairs, the Ministry of Youth Affairs, Physical Culture and Sports of the Omsk Region, as well as the Project Office for international youth cooperation in the Russia and the Central Asian region Project.
The purpose of the Forum is to promote and further strengthen cooperation between the youth of the regions of Russia, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan and Uzbekistan.
This year the Forum program covered a number of educational areas, specifically: cultural and historical community of the countries of the region, media, and creative industries.
Within the framework of the first track, the origins of the relationship between the peoples of Russia, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan, and Uzbekistan, the joint way of development, as well as the current stage of cooperation were discussed.
The second track of the Forum related to the media sphere, the nature of information coverage of current events, and the problems of information confrontation.
The third track brought together creative young people who are interested in such manifestations of cultural identity as fashion and cooking. The track participants combined the traditions of the participating countries, new trends, and specific trends in their projects.
The Forum began with warm introductions and making acquaintances and a “cold” excursion — the Forum participants got to know each other and the city of Omsk better. And although Omsk welcomed the participants in the Forum in a frosty Siberian way, this did not prevent them from visiting the main attractions: Lyubinsky Prospekt, Chokan Valikhanov Street, and the Omsk Fortress.
The second day of the Forum started with a lecture on intercultural communication and public diplomacy by Daria Saprynskaya, project manager of the Foundation for the Support of Public Diplomacy named after. A.M. Gorchakov.
The second day of the Forum ended with a visit to the Festival of student teams of “In the Center of Asia” Wits and Humour Competition.
On the third day, our student participated in the “The Media: what’s that and what is it eaten with” and “Storytelling as a basic journalistic skill” master classes, as well as in the presentation of the team project which took the honorable 2nd place.
