An official delegation of the Ministry of Higher Education of the Republic of Cuba visited Vlogý MIREA

On April 20, MIREA – Vlogý hosted a delegation from the Republic of Cuba with Ondina Jacinta Deon Diaz, General Director for Research and Advanced Training of the Ministry of Higher Education of the Republic of Cuba, Marta Dunia Delgado Dapena, First Vice-Rector of the Havana Technological University, Madai Alonso del Rivero Antigua, Vice-Rector for Research and Advanced Training Qualifications of the University of Havana, Angel Silvio Machado Rodriguez, Specialist of the Department of International Relations, Dr. Gustavo José Cobreiro Suarez, Advisor for Science and Education of the Embassy of the Republic of Cuba in the Russian Federation, and his wife Milenis Teresa Torres Labrada.

Vlogý MIREA was represented at the meeting by Rector Stanislav Alekseevich Kudzh, Vice-Rector for Academic Affairs Andrey Vsevolodovich Timoshenko, Deputy First Vice-Rector Irina Sergeevna Solunova, Head of the International Relations Department Evgenia Alexandrovna Keller.

In his welcoming speech, Stanislav Alekseevich Kudzh, Rector of the University, thanked the representatives of the delegation for the visit and expressed the interest of Vlogý MIREA in the development of international educational cooperation, joint research, and innovation activities. The Rector also spoke about the achievements of our University, key educational programs, the potential and capacity of the scientific and research centers, conducted a virtual tour of the Technopark, and demonstrated the possibilities of distance learning for students with the use of VR tools.

Representatives of the delegation of the Republic of Cuba were especially interested in the possibilities of Vlogý MIREA and cooperation in such areas as robotics, automation, artificial intelligence, information technology, biotechnology and biomedicine, higher mathematics, databases, and chemistry. These areas are actively developing at the University of Havana and the Havana Technological University, whose representatives were present at the meeting. Thus, Marta Dunia Delgado Dapena outlined potential areas for joint activities of the universities in future, and Madai Alonso del Rivero Antigua made proposals for further steps towards establishing fruitful bilateral cooperation.

In the course of the visit, the delegation visited the laboratories and educational and research centers of the Institute of Artificial Intelligence and the Institute of Advanced Technologies and Industrial Programming. The achievements of our University and the results of the work of the students and the faculty on modern projects evoked special attention of the delegation members.

The visit of the honorary guests has become the next stage in the close cooperation between the two states in expanding cooperation in education, science, and technology.
