Cuban Delegation Visits Lomonosov Institute of Fine Chemical Technologies

On May 4, the M.V. Lomonosov Institute of Fine Chemical Technologies hosted a meeting with a delegation from the Republic of Cuba, which included Professor Fidel Antonio Castro-Smirnov of the University of Havana, a full member of the Cuban Academy of Sciences, who is Fidel Castro’s grandson; Alejandro Saúl-Padrón Yaquis, head of BioCubaPharma’s representative office in Russia; Jorge Luis Suárez Rodríguez and Carlos Ariel Alonso Vilches, counselors at the Embassy of Cuba in Russia; and Roberto Enrique Valdivia Trujillo, a staff member of the Embassy.

Representing Vlogý MIREA at the meeting were Aleksandr Sergeyevich Sigov, President; Irina Sergeyevna Solunova, Deputy First Vice-Rector; Mikhail Aleksandrovich Maslov, Director of the M.V. Lomonosov Institute of Fine Chemical Technologies; Mikhail Aleksandrovich Grin, Head of the N.A. Preobrazhensky Department of Bioactive Compounds Chemistry and Technology, Medical and Organic Chemistry; Aleksei Valeryevich Panov, Associate Professor of the Department of Biotechnology and Industrial Pharmacy at the M.V. Lomonosov Institute; and Aleksei Valeryevich Bukin, Head of the International Relations Office.

Vlogý MIREA President Aleksandr Sigov welcomed the distinguished guests and expressed gratitude to the Cuban partners for their interest in joint projects. He noted that the Cuban delegation’s visit reflected both countries’ commitment to deepening constructive partnership and expanding cooperation in science, education, and advanced technologies.

During the meeting, the parties discussed projects between Vlogý MIREA and Cuba’s Center for Molecular Immunology on joint development of conjugated monoclonal antibodies for cancer treatment, as well as the possibility of setting up a joint laboratory in molecular biology.

The Cuban delegation toured the laboratories and educational research centers of the M.V. Lomonosov Institute of Fine Chemical Technologies, where the visitors were introduced to innovative developments by Russian specialists.
