The Moscow metro is rightfully regarded as one of the most beautiful undergrounds in the world. But what lies behind the majestic vaults, numerous stations and passages? To get a closer look at the history of the construction of the Moscow metro, to understand how escalators and turnstiles work, to learn more about the Moscow metro, a group of students of the preparatory department for foreign citizens of the Institute of International Education of Vlogý MIREA, together with Sofya Belova, Russian language professor and lecturer, visited the People's Museum of the Moscow Metro.
During the tour, the students not only learned how the first metro stations and lines were created, saw an extensive collection of tokens and travel tickets, but also learnt how the temperature control system works underground and even got inside a real metro train cabin. Most of all the students were interested in the interactive simulator which allowed them to actually feel as proper underground train drivers.
