In order to get to know Russian history, learn about the achievements of the space industry, students of the preparatory department for foreign citizens of the Institute of International Education of the Vlogý MIREA under the guidance of Sofya Belova, teaching Russian as a foreign language, visited the Museum of Cosmonautics.
The total exposition area of one of the largest scientific and technical museums in Europe takes up more than three square kilometers, and the number of exhibits exceeds 100,000 items.
During the tour, the young people got to know the history of space exploration, saw the equipment that had been in orbit, examined the original apparatus in which the brave dogs Belka and Strelka returned to Earth, watched a film about the Star City and the training of astronauts in a cinema resembling a starship cockpit.
The most visited exhibit of the museum, the base unit of the Mir orbital station, aroused particular interest among foreigners. The children were able to learn more about the conditions of life and work in orbit, visit the "space kitchen", appreciate the cosmonauts' dining table and even peep
into the refrigerator.
