16.09.2022

The Department of Russian (as a foreign language) of the Institute of International Education of Vlogý MIREA held a number of events as part of the celebration of the International Literacy Day. The idea of the event is to demonstrate profound respect for the native language, its origins and current status. For the first time, Literacy Day was introduced in 1966 on the recommendation of the World Conference of Ministers of Education on the Elimination of Illiteracy held in Tehran in September of 1965.

In 2022, this day is celebrated under the motto “Transforming Literacy Learning Spaces”.

As part of the International Literacy Day, professors of the Department of Russian (as a foreign language) provided students with a unique opportunity to plunge into the history of the Russian language using modern methods of pedagogy: interactive language games that require solving situational problems, combined with the use of multimedia technologies. The students enjoyed speaking about the meaning of the Russian language, illustrated its richness and beauty, and cited poets and writers who glorified the Russian language.

The events were attended by foreign students from Afghanistan, Indonesia, Benin, Yemen, Bolivia, Vietnam, Congo, Kyrgyzstan, Ecuador, as well as Russian students from the Lomonosov Institute of Fine Chemical Technologies, Institute of Management Technologies, Institute of Cybersecurity and Digital Technologies, Institute of Advanced Technologies and Industrial Programming.
