Employees of the Institute participated in 1st Congress of Teachers and Heads of Preparatory Faculties (Departments) of Russian Universities "Pre-university stage of education in Russia and around the world: language, adaptation, society, specialty", which took place from 19 to 21 October 2017 at the Faculty of Russian Language and General Studies, PFUR, with the support of the International Association of Teachers of Russian Language and Literature (MAPRYAL ) and the Russian Society of Teachers of the Russian Language and Literature (RPRYAL).

Representatives of the Ministry of Education, heads of international associations of teachers of Russian as a foreign language took part in the opening of the Congress. In the welcoming speech to the participants of the Congress, Vladimir Mikhailovich Filippov, Rector of the Russian Peoples' Friendship University, emphasized the importance of the teacher's work in this direction. Pavel Stanislavovich Zenkovich, State Secretary, Deputy Minister of Education and Science of the Russian Federation, spoke about new laws adopted by the State Duma and allowing to streamline the system of entrance examinations to Russian universities, making it "state, single, certified".

Mark Andreevich Kalinin, Head of the Department for Cooperation in the Field of Education and Science of Rossotrudnichestvo, Alexander Borisovich Sobolev, Director of the Department of State Policy in Higher Education of the Ministry of Education and Science of the Russian Federation, Igor Anatolyevich Mikheev, Director of the Department of State Policy in the Education of Children and Youth of the Ministry of Education and Science of the Russian Federation, Natalia Vladimirovna Brunova, General Secretary of MAPRYAL, spoke about the peculiarities of work with inophones, the support of the departments of Russian as a foreign language and preparatory departments for foreign citizens.

International Education Institute of Moscow Technological University was represented by V.A. Avagimyants, Deputy Head of the Preparatory Department for Foreign Citizens, E.N. Tarasova, Head of the Russian Language Department (as a foreign language) and S.S. Gulyants and FS. Makoyeva, teachers of the Department. They made presentations, and took part in the discussions. Much attention was paid to the psychological adaptation of foreign citizens arriving in Russia, the administrative activities of the preparatory faculties and departments: preparation for the admission of foreign citizens, meeting, accommodation, the use of innovative technologies in teaching Russian as a foreign language.
