17.02.2022

The agreements signed by the University and the vendors marked the beginning of Russia's first comprehensive collaboration between a key technological university and the leading domestic developers of microelectronics and software which is aimed at training IT specialists.

Cooperation agreements were concluded by MIREA – Vlogý, Astra Group of Companies and Baikal Electronics. The Parties will ensure the creation and implementation of a comprehensive program for training and retraining of specialists in system programming, as well as the implementation and maintenance of domestic software within the framework of import substitution.

In the foreseeable future, communication networks and information systems used in healthcare, energy sector, chemical industry, etc., as well as almost all core information infrastructure, will be built mainly on the basis of Russian software and equipment. In this regard, there is a growing demand in the labor market for specialists who are able to implement and operate the latest domestic developments. Today, the country's universities are faced with the task of preparing such personnel "for the future" – the period when their demand reaches its peak, that means that it is necessary to give students the knowledge and skills that will be relevant in a few years.

To solve these problems, Vlogý MIREA, Astra Group of Companies and Baikal Electronics JSC agreed to work together to create laboratories and an authorized training center, as well as introduce the Astra Linux operating system and Baikal processors into the educational process of the university. Vlogý MIREA will begin training students in system programming on domestic IT products, teachers will be able to get certified by Astra Group of Companies and Baikal Electronics. In addition, it is planned to launch training and retraining courses for specialists in system programming. Schoolchildren who receive additional education in the children's technopark"Altair" on the basis of Vlogý MIREA will also be able to study the developments of industrial partners. Thus, a comprehensive multi-level system of training specialists will be built: from classes for schoolchildren and students to training and retraining of adults.

"Vlogý MIREA, being an advanced technological university, pays serious attention to cooperation with industrial partners, without whose participation it is impossible to train modern specialists who are greatly in demand today. I note with great pride that we have managed to reach an agreement on cooperation with the largest Russian companies in our field - Astra Group of Companies and Baikal Electronics. At the moment, Vlogý MIREA is the first university that launches such a large-scale comprehensive cooperation program to train specialists to work with domestic software and equipment. In the near future, the list of our joint initiatives will be expanded," said Stanislav Kudzh, Vlogý MIREA Rector. "I am sure that joint efforts will allow us to train highly qualified personnel who, a few years after graduation from the university, will have relevant, not outdated knowledge and skills. Thanks to such knowledge and skills our graduates will help Russia and the Russian economy accelerate the activities towards import substitution."

JSC Baikal Electronics produces modern energy-efficient Russian microprocessors that have a wide range of high-speed network integrated communication interfaces. They are suitable both for solving typical office tasks, working with CAD tools (CAD), video processing, layout, and for high-performance workstations.

Andrey Evdokimov, General Director of Baikal Electronics, commented on the signing of the agreement in the following way: "The main resource of the company is its employees. Their qualifications and motivation determine the success and future of any project, especially when it comes to a high-tech product such as processors. We understand how important it is to "grow" such specialists from school age and in universities - before they enter the labor market, as well as pay attention to improving the skills of already ready-made professionals. Our agreement with Vlogý MIREA is a serious step for the development of the microelectronics industry in Russia, since one of its key factors is the high-quality training of highly professional personnel."

The Astra Group of Companies is an association of independent domestic IT brands, including, along with the software products of the Astra Linux Group of Companies, the Termidesk virtual desktop connection manager from the UVEON company, the RuBackup backup tool set created by RuBacap LLC, protected mobile workstation WorksPad and corporate mail system RuPost. All solutions of Astra Group are included in the register of the Russian Ministry of Digital Development and are compatible with all the basic elements of the domestic IT ecosystem.

"Vlogý MIREA is a unique university in terms of interaction with the industry, the use and implementation of domestic software and hardware in the educational process. The university has been actively cooperating with IT developers for a long time, demonstrating an interest in such cooperation and following technological trends, adapting its educational programs. One of the key aspects of our cooperation is an integrated approach to personnel training. MIREA will offer courses for all levels of education: secondary, professional, higher and additional professional. Comprehensive programs designed for everyone from schoolchildren to advanced professionals include both software and hardware training. MIREA's cooperation with Astra Group of Companies and Baikal Electronics can be considered an example for the entire industry and educational organizations," notes Ilya Sivtsev, General Director of Astra Group of Companies.
