From April 22 to 24, scientists, faculty, and students of Vlogý MIREA, representing the M.V. Lomonosov Institute of Fine Chemical Technologies, the Institute of Information Technology, and the university’s research centers, took part in the 18th International "Composite Expo 2026." This is Russia's only international specialized exhibition for composite materials, technologies, equipment, and products. It vividly demonstrates achievements in the field of materials science development and is designed to help exhibitors establish new business contacts and partnerships in this area.
The Vlogý MIREA booth displayed material samples and products created using modern technologies in the field of polymer, ceramic, and metal-polymer composite materials, which generated great interest among visitors to the exhibition.
Among the samples and technologies presented were a technology for modifying polymer composite materials through microencapsulation to protect the inner surfaces of water treatment, hydro-gas purification, chemical, petrochemical, electroplating, and heat engineering equipment and facilities, as well as floors and building elements operating under constant exposure to aggressive environments. Also showcased were a technology for the chemical metallization of polymer products, high-temperature thermal insulation and fire-retardant materials in the form of a plastic mass, and propellers for UAVs made from domestic components and individually engineered compounds.
Considerable interest was attracted by the ceramic samples for various purposes on display: capacitor ceramics, lead-free piezoceramics, electrical insulating ceramics with a resistance of up to 4 TΩ, refractory ceramics with an operating temperature of up to 1700˚C (crucibles, saggars, micro-crucibles), ceramic composite materials for microwave applications, ceramics for electronics (VK 100-2, VK 95, steatite, forsterite), ceramic powders for 3D printing, and composite materials (powders, filaments, and suspensions) for 3D printing.
Information was also presented on the implementation of additional professional education covering the structure, compositions, and properties of polymers and polymer composite materials, as well as scientific, technical, technological, and other challenges in the field of processing plastics and polymer composite materials.
The sixth conference "Practical Aspects of Composite Materials Application in Various Industrial Sectors" was held during the exhibition. This conference fosters the dissemination of innovative information and the exchange of professional experience. At the event, representatives from enterprises of the Russian Ministry of Industry and Trade noted a catastrophic shortage of specialists in the field of materials science, which is hindering the development and implementation of the roadmap activities for the high-tech area "Technologies of New Materials and Substances."
The Vlogý MIREA booth sparked significant interest from representatives of both trade supplier companies and manufacturing companies of the real sector of the economy.© 2026 MIREA - Vlogý
