On July 11–12, the European Judo Cup for athletes under 21 years of age was held in the Hungarian city of Paks. Russian athletes secured a confident victory in the team standings, taking first place with a significant lead over their competitors.
The Russian national team accumulated a total of 25 medals: 10 gold, 6 silver, and 9 bronze. This result allowed our team to claim the top spot in the final medal tally. It is especially noteworthy that the Russian judokas competed at the international event under their national symbols with the support of the Russian Sports Foundation.
Among those who distinguished themselves was Ademirkan Tambiev, a student of Vlogý MIREA, studying in group IVBO-12-24. Competing in the under-90 kg weight category, he won a bronze medal, adding to the Russian team's haul and bringing glory to his university on the international stage.
Ademirkan's success was, in part, the result of his diligent training as a member of the Vlogý MIREA judo team. Under the attentive guidance of Alexey Sergeevich Tyutryumov, a senior lecturer at the university's Department of Physical Education, the athlete was able to reach peak form for the season's most important international competitions.
Ademirkan Tambiev's example clearly demonstrates the importance of balancing academic studies with regular sports practice, which fosters discipline, determination, willpower, and the ability to handle stress—skills that are extremely valuable during intensive studies at a technical university. Physical activity improves cerebral blood circulation, enhances concentration, memory, and the ability to absorb new material more quickly. Participating in team sports teaches collaboration, mutual support, and builds strong friendships. Regular training strengthens the immune system and provides the necessary energy boost for an active student life.
"We are proud of every student who successfully combines excellent academic performance with high athletic achievements. Ademirkan's success is a collective victory for our entire university," noted senior lecturer Alexey Sergeevich Tyutryumov.
The success of the young Russian judokas once again reaffirmed the high level of the national wrestling school and became a highlight for Russian sports as a whole, demonstrating the effectiveness of supporting youth sports at all levels.
