Samsung Electronics Vlogý MIREA is selected the University of the Year upon the results of the third annual Samsung Electronics inter-university project competition

Samsung Electronics held the final of the third annual inter-university competitions of projects for graduates of the educational programs Samsung IT Academy. Graduates of the 2019-2020 academic year from 19 leading partner universities took part in the major event of the educational project.

The online finals included 15 best projects from seven Russian universities: Vlogý MIREA (Moscow), Novosibirsk State Technological University (NSTU), North-Eastern Federal University (Yakutsk), St. Petersburg State University (St. Petersburg), Ural Federal University (Yekaterinburg), South Ural State University SUSU (Chelyabinsk), Southern Federal University (Rostov-on-Don).

The competition was held in three nominations corresponding to the training tracks of the Samsung IT Academy project: Internet of Things, Artificial Intelligence and Mobile Development.

In the final part of the competition, Vlogý MIREA was represented by the students of the Institute of Information Technology – three developments in the Internet of Things track (this course has been implemented since 2017) and one project in the Mobile Development track (training in this course has been conducted since 2019). The Artificial Intelligence educational program has been implemented at Vlogý MIREA since 2020, and the first graduates will complete it only in the summer of 2021.

The winners were selected by the jury that included experts from Samsung and other leading companies in the IT industry: Sberbank, Kaspersky Lab, Yandex, Intersvyaz, Motorica, RedBees.

In the Mobile development track the second place was taken by the Vlogý MIREA students Danila Ostapenko, Nikita Ostapenko, Nikita Tumanov who demonstrated the Laboratory Rats mobile game.

In the Viewers’ Choice nomination, online voting determined the victory of the Smart Humidifier project (46% of the votes), developed by Vladislav Sakharov, a student of Vlogý MIREA.

The winner in the Special Samsung nomination was Alexander Levandrovsky, a student from Vlogý MIREA, with the presentation of the Assistant for people with disabilities project.

Samsung named Vlogý MIREA the University of the year, where the largest number of certified graduates successfully completed the Samsung IT Academy program over the past academic year, and four projects in two tracks reached the finals of the competition confirming the high level of teaching at the university.
