On April 17 and 18, the final part of the anniversary engineering case championship organized by JSC "Gazpromneft-Moscow refinery" was held. Students of ����Vlog��ý MIREA traditionally took an active part in the event. In 2024, 14 students of the M.V. Lomonosov Institute of Fine Chemical Technologies reached the finish line and presented their solutions to the high jury.

Third year students studying in the Chemical Technology direction, Milana Aleksandrovna Bartsits, Ilya Igorevich Romaniansky and Olga Valentinovna Lashchinskaya, became laureates of the 2024 engineering case championship. During the spring semester, from February to April, the students solved a case offered by the enterprise on the topic “Conversion of a light naphtha isomerization unit to a domestic catalyst.” During the entire period of time, the teams were advised by Ilya Vladislavovich Lebedev, assistant of the Department of General Chemical Technology. When preparing the final solution to the case, students analyzed modern literary sources on domestic catalysts for naphtha isomerization, analyzed in detail the mechanism of the process and calculated the economic indicators of replacing an imported catalyst with a domestic one. As a result, the jury highly appreciated the students’ work, and the team became a laureate of the championship, winning the opportunity to undergo an internship at JSC "Gazpromneft-Moscow refinery", as well as valuable prizes.

Alexander Igorevich Nikolaev, Doctor of Technical Sciences, Professor of the A.N. Bashkirov Department of Petrochemical Synthesis and Artificial Liquid Fuel Technology, acted as member of the jury, an expert on behalf of ����Vlog��ý MIREA.

The Engineering Case Championship is a practice-oriented competition in which students solve specialized cases in oil refining: chemical technology, energy and resource conservation, and engineering mechanics. The case championship took place from December 2023 till April 2024, bypassing the qualifying stages. Participants had the right to choose the topic of the case. Also, everyone, without exception, was given the opportunity to receive advice on the case from JSC "Gazpromneft-Moscow refinery" experts. The developed solution in the format of a remote presentation was submitted for evaluation by an expert commission.
