On February 25, students of the Institute of International Education of ����Vlog��ý MIREA, under the guidance of the lecturers of the Department of Russian (as a foreign language), visited the parting with winter exciting events of the Moscow Maslenitsa festival.

Foreign students could watch the ice show program “Tales of the Russian Balalaika” by Tatyana Navka, the Olympic champion, and Pyotr Chernyshev, the champion of four continents. Classical Russian folk songs, magnificent costumes, various tricks, and amazing choreography made the high-class performance of the skaters still more impressive. Not only did the students get to know the traditions of the broad-scale Maslenitsa festivities, but they also learned a lot about the history of the symbols in Russia, about the festive traditional music and the cultural identity of folk festivals.

The holiday atmosphere reigned everywhere: from Revolution Square to Tverskoy Boulevard, the Maslenitsa festivities were growing in scale, giving an amazing mood to all those present. After tasting traditional pancakes with spices, the students even had time to make wishes in the popular and best-loved places of the subway. Communication in Russian united everyone at the Moscow Maslenitsa festival.
