From June 1 to June 6, the Institute of International Education held events dedicated to the birthday of A.S. Pushkin, the events were also timed to the Day of the Russian Language.
On June 4, students of the Institute of International Education from Azerbaijan, Algeria, Afghanistan, Bangladesh, Vietnam, Georgia, Iraq, China, Kyrgyzstan, the Republic of Namibia, Serbia, Syria, Tajikistan and Turkmenistan visited the State Museum of A.S. Pushkin, the main museum complex of which is located in the center of the capital, in the noble estate of the XIX century Khrushchev-Seleznev, on Prechistenka street.
The students examined the exposition of the museum, which is an open storage of rare books, lifetime editions of A.S. Pushkin; paintings by famous artists and antiques telling about the great poet and his era. The gem of the museum's collection is the pen of A.S. Pushkin and his death mask. Thanks to the unique location of the museum exhibits which tell about the main life stages of the great poet, students learned a lot of interesting facts about him. The hall dedicated to the novel "Eugene Onegin" informed the tourists about the peculiarities and richness of the language of the works of A.S. Pushkin.
On the Day of the Russian Language, June 6, foreign students went to the Illusion historical cinema located in a famous house on Kotelnicheskaya Embankment, for a retrospective film screening of the famous film adaptation of A.S. Pushkin “The Tale of Tsar Saltan”. Before the demonstration of the film, the audience met with the costume designer Irina Zhigmund and the film expert Dina Kharkova, authors of the book “Olga Kruchinina. Costumes for Famous Films”, who spoke about the special features of this film adaptation and the uniqueness of the costumes created for it.
The interest in the personality of A.S. Pushkin, his masterful skill in shaping Russian words and expressions into prose and poetry turned out to be so impressive that foreign students of the Institute of International Education memorized the lines they liked by the great Russian poet and recited them at the department of Russian (as a foreign language). Also, the lecturers of the department organized a Russian language quest for foreign students.
