As part of the program for socio-cultural adaptation and integration of foreign students, one of the main goals of which is to get acquainted with the historical and cultural heritage of Russia, students of the preparatory department for foreign citizens of the Institute of International Education of Vlogý MIREA, under the guidance of assistant professor Sofya Belova, visited the Tsaritsyno Museum-Reserve.
The Tsaritsyno palace and park ensemble, founded by order of Empress Catherine II, is the largest pseudo-Gothic building of the 18th century in Europe. The Tsaritsyno landscape park became one of the first landscape parks in Russia outside the St. Petersburg palace and park ensembles.
The students visited the Grand Palace, got to know many facts from the history of the creation of the estate and the tragic fate of the architect Vasily Bazhenov, learned how the further life of Tsaritsyno turned out, what specific work the restorers fulfilled in the 21st century, tried to picture what the front rooms could have looked like, had the construction been completed during the reign of Catherine II.
In the Khlebny Dom, the young people visited the exhibition “A toy has grown in the forest”, took a look at a real workshop, learned about various methods of wood processing and types of paint, patterns used in the regions of Russia, and even completed their tour in a birch grove inhabited by the toy fairy-tale characters.
