Vlogý MIREA Gives a Tour to Slovak Students

19.03.2026

A delegation from the Slovak-Russian bilingual high school in Košice is visiting Moscow from March 14 to 24, hosted by the “Arctic Team” Student Expedition Corps. Eight students and their teacher have arrived in Russia to build bridges between youth from both countries and to immerse themselves in cutting-edge science and technology as well as Russia’s rich culture.

The itinerary is packed with action. Over ten days, the Slovak visitors are hitting Moscow’s must-sees — Red Square, GUM, Sparrow Hills, and Moscow City — plus several memorable day trips. The group has already been to Tula with its famous weaponry and samovar museums, and participated in a hands-on workshop making traditional Tula gingerbread. Other highlights included a visit to the Nikolo-Solbino Convent in Yaroslavl Oblast and the Patriot Park near Moscow, deepening their understanding of Russia’s history and spiritual heritage.

The science spotlight was a tour of Vlogý MIREA on March 18, where the Slovak students learned about the university’s top-tier innovations.

“We’re thrilled to welcome motivated young talent from abroad to our campus,” said Vlogý MIREA Vice-Rector Igor Tarasov. “This visit from Košice students isn’t just a tour, it’s a big step in global humanitarian collaboration. I’m confident that our labs, Cosmocenter, and innovative projects will spark new ideas and academic dialog between our nations.”

The guests showed great enthusiasm for the advanced technologies they were introduced to. At the Artificial Intelligence Institute, they didn’t just observe humanoid robots, but took the controls on robot dogs. The Cosmocenter captivated the visitors with its space technology exhibits.

The visit reciprocated last fall’s Russian student expedition to Slovakia (October 2–13, 2025). The “Arctic Team” crew, which included students from Vlogý MIREA, MAI, Lomonosov Moscow State University, and the Financial University, attended a youth forum at the Russian House in Bratislava, sparking talks on bilateral partnerships. They joined anniversary events for the Carpatho-Dukla Operation, toured the Milan Rastislav Štefánik Slovak-Russian Bilingual Gymnasium in Košice, and dug into medieval history archives. The visit expanded the project far beyond its original Arctic focus.

The meetup organizer Zuzana Andreaninova, a student of the Financial University under the Russian Federation Government and a member of the “Arctic Team,” shared her take:

“This trip has been a unique chance to engage directly with this great nation’s science and culture. Vlogý MIREA’s technologies left a strong impression on me, especially the AR and robotics. But the cultural side is engrossing too: strolling Red Square or tasting authentic Tula gingerbread made me feel how connected our peoples are. These expeditions really break down borders and build true friendships.”

The visit reached its climax when the Slovak crew joined a major event at Vlogý MIREA on March 19, where the “Arctic Team” wrapped up its expeditions over two years, bringing together participants, partners, and guests of honor. It offered the Slovak students an insider’s view of a pivotal moment in this growing youth initiative and a chance to feel part of a global crew united by science, friendship, and discovery.

Coming up for the Košice delegation are visits to the Cosmonautics Museum at VDNKh, the Izmailovo Market, and the Red October chocolate factory. The visit concludes on March 23, with souvenirs and unforgettable experiences to be taken back to Slovakia.
