An educational tour for students of the Institute of International Education from Azerbaijan, Afghanistan, Algeria, Bangladesh, Vietnam, Iraq, Iran, China, Libya, Syria, and the Central African Republic was held at the Museum of Military Equipment “Motors of War”.
The tour was conducted by Yuri Leonidovich Moskvin, military reenactor, head of the Division military-patriotic club, who was directly engaged in the restoration of many cars exhibited in the museum. The exposition of the museum, consisting of three main parts, has more than 150 exhibits from all countries participating in the Second World War. 17 exhibits are very rare, just a single copy in the world. Today, the museum has the world's largest exposition of military wheeled vehicles dating back to the 20th century.
The students were particularly interested in the display dedicated to the battle for Moscow. Foreign students saw the unique GAZ-61 all-wheel drive command vehicle, which belonged to Marshal Konev, as well as the famous T-60 and T-34 tanks. The legendary Katyusha, the only surviving copy in the world, evoked delight.
Foreign students got acquainted not only with unique exhibits, but also were able to plunge into the history of the military life of the last century: sit behind the wheel of legendary cars, evaluate the weight of shells and the speed of the artilleryman, look into the military field kitchen, and even watch the ride of the oldest caterpillar tractor, transporting not only trailers for the needs of the infantry, but also heavy artillery.
The organizers of the excursion, the purpose of which was to introduce foreign students to the heroic Russian history, were the Department of Russian (as a foreign language) of the Institute of International Education.
