On August 14, in the Kaluga region, on the premises of the ETNOMIR ethnographic park-museum, the official opening procedure of the XIV International Youth Camp “Dialogue” was held.
Olga Negrova, Deputy Director of the Department of State Youth Policy and Educational Activities of the Russian Ministry of Science and Higher Education, welcomed the project participants via video. She invited the audience to the World Youth Festival, the largest international event of 2024.
“We hope that it will be possible for all of us to get together again next year. We will get a chance to delve into the amazing atmosphere of the World Youth Festival,” said Olga Negrova.
“Today we live in a rapidly developing time and we must shoulder its challenges, keep pace with it. Therefore, international youth cooperation is so important for us. The youth interaction in science, sports, tourism and, of course, creativity is extremely important!” emphasized Deputy Director of the Department of State Youth Policy and Educational Activities of the Ministry of Science and Higher Education of the Russian Federation.
Olga Popova, Deputy Chairman of the National Council, recalled that when the project began in 2009, it was the first international platform on the territory of the Russian Federation dedicated to interethnic professional relations. The idea was to bring together young caring leaders from around the world, build bridges, implement joint initiatives, and create global youth cooperation.
“This year our platform unites 18 countries of the world, 32 regions of Russia. This is a big scale event both in terms of expertise and in terms of representing different cultures!” said Olga Popova.
Dmitry Polikanov, Deputy Head of Rossotrudnichestvo, stated in a video message that the topics of interethnic and interprofessional harmony discussed at the “Dialogue” are very relevant for the modern world. “It is extremely important to involve the younger generation in this process. The future is in your hands, the image of the planet in ten or twenty years depends on you. Such projects and initiatives help to improve peaceful understanding between people from different countries,” the diplomat believes.
Dmitry Bunkin, Director of the Institute of Youth Policy and International Relations Vlogý MIREA, noted that the interest of the partners from other countries in the camp is constantly growing. And this actually proves that the chosen format of the international discussion platform and a strong team of organizers working for the past fourteen years, allows building effective interethnic communication.
Tatyana Grigoryeva, Director of the ETNOMIR park, shared her memories of the very first “Dialogue”. She thanked the organizers for implementing a unique project, which becomes a catalyst for new interesting youth initiatives. “We are growing together with the Dialogue International Camp!” says Tatyana Grigorieva.
Mehriban Sadygova, Member of the Council for Interethnic Relations under the President of the Russian Federation, Advisor to the Director of the House of Peoples of Russia noted the relevance of facing our public organizations – to strengthen our relations. “There can be nothing more important than mutual understanding!” – the speaker said, emphasizing that young people need to know and honor the common history.

Bashkortostan, DPR, Crimea, LPR, Tatarstan, Krasnodar, Perm and Stavropol Territories, Arkhangelsk, Volgograd, Voronezh, Ivanovo, Kaluga, Kursk, Lipetsk, Nizhny Novgorod, Novgorod, Omsk, Penza, Rostov, Samara, Sverdlovsk, Smolensk, Tver, Tula and the Tyumen region, Moscow and St. Petersburg.
The work of the “Dialogue” will last until August 18. Its participants will discuss current problems and challenges on the way to strengthening interethnic and interfaith relations, explore successful Russian practices in overcoming these challenges and develop joint projects of possible responses.

The Dialogue is held jointly by the Ministry of Science and Higher Education of the Russian Federation, the National Council of Youth and Children's Associations of Russia, MIREA – Vlogý, which performs the functions of the Base Organization of the CIS Member States for Work with Youth, in pursuance of the Action Plan for 2023-2024 for the implementation of the Strategy for International Youth Cooperation of the CIS Member States for 2021-2030.
